  • Repeated "Host Up" Alerts

I hope this is a simple thing to fix.
For 2 of my 19 hosts, I'm getting Host Up emails every 2 hours (my notification period), but the hosts have been up continuously for days. The never show up as being down.

Any suggestions on how to convince Oreon/Nagios that the hosts are already up and to shutup?

it seems to be a nagios missconfiguration.
look directly in the nagios configuration files export by oreon in /usr/local/nagios/etc (maybe)
Find a difference between one who is ok and your 2 other.

This is a continuing problem. Here is a more accurate description of the problem:

After any host is detected as down, and it comes back online, I get many repeated "Host UP" alerts. This morning we had to shut down a server. When we booted it back up, I got Host UP alerts at 9:09, 9:10, 9:17, 9:18, 9:24, 9:34. I also get multiple service recovery alerts.

All the hosts and services were configured through Oreon nothing was imported from our old Nagios installation. I've looked at all the generated Nagios config files, and everything looks OK. I'm running Nagios 2.0.

      Any Ideas?

No idea, for me when a host come up i receive just one alert.

It s certainly a little mistake in configuration but i don't see where it could be

I'm seing this problem as well. Out of nothing i receive a Host UP mail, when i didn't receive a HOST DOWN mail. It doesn't make sense.

I'm still having the problem too. Once a host goes down and comes back up, I receive an endless stream of "Host UP" alerts. I don't think it's a Nagios problem because I upgraded Nagios from 2.0 to 2.5 and the problem persists.

This problem could be caused by a configuration error in your contacts.cfg file. Make sure the following settings are set accordingly:

              host_notification_commands host-notify-by-email
              service_notification_commands service-notify-by-email

              Thanks,
