  • High check Latency.. HELP :)

    Hi everyone, first time poster here.

    I'm noticing really high latency on my Centreon/Nagios setup, and I'm not sure what's causing it.

    My setup:
    CentOs 6.0, Centreon 2.2.2, Nagios 3.2.3

    Hardware:
    2 x 2.5 GHz Quad core Xeon E5420
    4GB RAM

    Total # Checks:
    Hosts: 77
    Services: 491

    Everything works fine, it just seems slow.

    nagiostats results:

    Active Host Latency: 374.736 / 511.667 / 435.127 sec
    Active Service Latency: 367.784 / 637.402 / 458.474 sec

    nagios.cfg config via centreon:

    Host Inter-Check Delay Method = s
    Maximum Host Check Spread = 30 min
    Service Inter-Check Delay Method = s
    Maximum Service Check Spread = 30 min
    Service Interleave Factor = s
    Maximum Concurrent Service Checks = 0
    Check Result Reaper Frequency = 5 seconds
    Cached Host Check = 15 seconds
    Cached Service Check = 45 seconds
    User large installation tweaks = no (I've tried with this both on and off with the same results)

    I've been going through this article, but nothing seems to be helping: http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/tuning.html
    The only other thing I can think, is that mysql is performing poorly, but I don't know how to test and modify it.

    Anyone have recommendations on what I can look at to pinpoint what's causing this latency bottleneck?
    Any help is MUCH appreciated.

    Hi,

    Which version of NDO are you using ?
    Also, what kind of hard-drives setup do you have ?

    How's the server load ?

      Hey Telvary thx for the response.
      I actually fixed the issue, and would like to post what I did to fix it for anyone else who may have similar problems.

      edited /etc/my.cnf

      added lines:
      # Scott's Settings to improve MySQL latency
      innodb_buffer_pool_size = 1024M
      #innodb_log_file_size = 256M (Note: I found that these 2 lines, actually broke Centreon and caused it so I couldn't login)
      #innodb_log_buffer_size = 16M (Broke centreon login page)
      innodb_thread_concurrency = 32
      innodb_flush_log_at_trx_commit = 2
      query_cache_type=1
      query_cache_limit=4M
      query_cache_size=32M
      thread_cache=32
      wait_timeout=25
      connect_timeout=10
      max_connections=512
      log_slow_queries = /var/log/mysql-slow.log
      long_query_time = 4
      table_open_cache=512

      Hope this helps someone out there
