  • check_centreon_snmp_memory without swap?

    Dear Forum,

I use check_centreon_snmp_memory for the checks of our Linux servers memory.
Unfortunately check_centreon_snmp_memory is always including the SWAP space.
That means, if 99% of the physical memory is used I dont get a warning, the plugin still reports OK.
The -s Option for the limit of swap usage before critical does not seem to work at all.

Does anybody knows how to use this plugin for the check of the physical memory consumption WITHOUT Cached?

    Thanks,

    Matthias

Another way is to use check_snmp and set the oid you want to monitor

First, launch snmpwalk on your device, and look at the oid related to memory. Normally, it's something like hrStorage...

    this command should help :

    Code:
    snmpwalk 192.168.1.254 -c snmp_community -v 2c 1.3.6.1.2.1 > /tmp/snmpwalk_192.168.1.254.txt
This will return a lot of value. Then, with a text editor, open the file /tmp/192.168.1.254 and look for a line with description "physical memory" or something like that.

Note the OID, and then add the oid with the following command :

    Code:
    $USER1$/check_snmp -H 192.168.1.254 -C $_HOSTSNMPCOMMUNITY$ -o 1.3.6.1.2.1.the_oid_you_want_to_monitor -w warning_threshold_if_needed -c critical_threshold_if_needed.
If you know about macro, you can replace "warning_threshold..." by $_HOST_MEMORY_WARNING$ and "critical threshold" by $_HOST_MEMORY_CRITICAL"

Then, in your host, you add 2 macros : _MEMORY WARNING and _MEMORY CRITICAL.

In this way, you will be able to change on the fly the threshold, i mean, whitout restar or reload Nagios. You just need a script who will send the command to nagios.

For more details, google "nagios external command" and look at CHANGE_CUSTOM_HOST_VAR

Or with this link : http://old.nagios.org/developerinfo/externalcommands/commandlist.php

      Hi,

You can try check using check_centreon_remote_storage, like this:

      check_centreon_snmp_remote_storage -H 10.X.X.X -n -d "Physical memory" -w 80 -c 90 -C community -v 1

      Best Regards
