  • [SOLVED] Installation - unable to create preon.conf.php

As part of the installation - page 9 - the creation of the file oreon.conf.php fails.

It states that the writeable Oreon Configuration File (oreon.conf.php) is OK

But on the next line :

Generate configuration file : Critical: Can't create file
/usr/local/oreon/www/oreon.conf.php failed to open stream : Permission denied

Permissions on this directory are apache:apache 775.

Have tried to changing to 777 and creating the file manually but without success.

I have seen another post with the same problem but unfortunately no answer to the problem.

    Any ideas would be grateful.

    Thanks

The file was not created by the installation at all.

If I delete the file that I created I get the same error.

Are you sure that apache is the user where apache run under ?

        On my server :

        ls -ail /usr/local/oreon/www/
        3243292 drwxrwxr-x 11 apache apache 4096 jun 14 18:31 www

        ps aux | grep http
        root 1743 0.0 0.4 24672 9768 ? Ss Jun20 0:00 /usr/sbin/httpd
        apache 1778 0.0 0.6 29780 13372 ? S Jun20 0:03 /usr/sbin/httpd
        apache 1780 0.0 0.5 28916 12232 ? S Jun20 0:02 /usr/sbin/httpd
        apache 1781 0.0 0.5 29028 11636 ? S Jun20 0:02 /usr/sbin/httpd

I think tehere is nothing else to verify !

What do you read in your apache error.log when the error appear ?

        /var/log/httpd/error_log on my server

          Thanks for the reply.

Apache is running with the user apache.

I get exactly the same details as you when running the command ps aux | grep http.

The message in the error log is as follows :

[Thu Jun 22 18:20:18 2006] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] PHP Warning: fopen(/usr/local/oreon/www/oreon.conf.php) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /usr/local/oreon/www/install/steps/step9.php on line 90, referer: http://127.0.0.1/oreon/install/setup.php

          thanks
